FanDuel lets sports fans go head-to-head for prizes, but you can’t access it outside the US. A VPN will help unlock it, but what if the software stops working? Our guide explains what to do.
If your VPN isn’t letting you use FanDuel abroad, it’s not hiding your real location. Our quick guide has details on how to solve the problem in record time.
In this article:
Which VPNs work with FanDuel?
Can I use FanDuel outside the US?
Yes, but you need a reliable VPN at your side so FanDuel doesn’t realise you’re outside the United States. The VPNs we’ve named here are a perfect fit and, if the bookmaker blacklists a server temporarily, they’re able to create a brand new one very quickly.
FanDuel is a region-locked betting site designed for people in the United States. If the brand identifies your IP address and confirms that you’re not based in a supported country, the website will lock up.
Common reasons for FanDuel failing to pair with your VPN:
- Your VPN servers might have been blacklisted
- Cookies stored in your browser are telling FanDuel about the location you’re trying to hide
- A VPN is leaking your IP address, which causes FanDuel to block traffic
Easy FanDuel fixes
1. Update your VPN
From a computer, go to your VPN Settings and look for an Update button. Restart your PC when it’s installed.
From an Android, you can update your VPN using the Play Store. Check the update notes to see what’s new.
From an iPhone, just open the App Store and tap on your user profile. From there, you can check for updates and tap the dropdown menu to see what’s new.
2. Swap servers
We recommend disconnecting from your current server and trying another in the US for FanDuel.
The steps for this vary depending on the VPN you’re using. If you’re on ExpressVPN, you can select the three dots to access a list of alternative servers within the same country.
3. Use Customer Support
The VPN services we’ve recommended below have customer support teams that can help with technical issues. If you’re experiencing difficulties using FanDuel abroad, reach out to them for help.
4. Reset your VPN
If switching servers didn’t fix the problem, completely uninstall your VPN, then reinstall it. After the reinstallation, open both your VPN and the betting site.
5. Speed test your internet
Disconnect from your wi-fi, reconnect and then try your VPN one more time. If that doesn’t help, you can perform a thorough reset by restarting your router.
We also recommend testing your internet with a free internet speed test such as Ookla – you can compare the results with your Internet Service Provider’s ‘minimum guaranteed speed’ promise.
More FanDuel fixes:
Clear your cache and cookies. In Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data. If you’re using an Apple computer with Safari, go to Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
Are your details public due to a DNS leak? A broken VPN can’t conceal your IP address and location on Fanduel. To test it yourself, disable the VPN and head to the IP Address Lookup tool. Note down your IP address. Then, turn on your VPN and run the test once again – if you aren’t assigned a new IP and location, your VPN is faulty.
Re-enter VPN username and password. Check if you’ve entered your VPN login details correctly. Incorrect credentials could be the reason FanDuel doesn’t pair with your VPN.
Check the VPN servers. If you can’t connect to a server, your provider might be to blame. The best providers (ExpressVPN, NordVPN, Ivacy and PureVPN) are clear about this.
Check your firewall allows VPNs. On Windows, open Windows Security > Allow an app through the firewall. On Mac, try System Settings > Network > Firewall.
